Flood, is one of many natural disaster.
As you know, natural disasters is not good for anyone, normal people would try to avoid and PREVENT it. For your information, flood is one the most dangerous natural disaster, when it happen, it is hard to avoid it (unless if you have 3-4 floor building). Still, you would worry about your belongings if you have one. Also if you already know that today flood will happen, where will you go? plane (wasting budget). How about the poor people? under the sea~ not only that, your belongings: TVs, PCs, Freezers will be broken, power failure, people died from electricity, etc.. No one would want it to happen right? Actually there are some ways to avoid it, we are going to talk about later.
This is one of the causes of flooding. Flood happens anywhere, anytime. Indonesia, The U.S, etc. Though there are some countries that never had flood happening, such as the Dutch Land. Flood happens mainly because the river was clogged with unnecessary things such as candy wrappers, plastic bags, unused things, wastes, soil erosion, etc. Logically, it mostly happens in lowlands, or places near the sea or river.
The possible causes of flooding are:
Natural Causes
★High rainfall★Global Warming
★Tsunami / tides
★Slow flowing river
Human Caused
★Illegal logging★Poor water management / Bad city drainage
★Bad farming technique (greedy farmers):
(overgrazing: Graze too many animals from the land, pastures got eaten quickly, and the soil get washed to the river easily)
(over cultivation: If a land had been used for farming for long time, the soil can become infertile, and get washed to the river easily)
★Soil erosion (caused by illegal logging)
★Clogged river (caused by throwing rubbish in the river, the rubbish would add up, and later clog the riverflow)
Lately, Jakarta has been a city of flood, with seasonal flood for every year, people said that it was caused by the city drainage, but it can be caused by people too, since the law here are not strict enough, people ignored the "DILARANG BUANG SAMPAH SEMBARANGAN" or "BUANGLAH SAMPAH PADA TEMPATNYA" signs, it seems that no one cared about that big signs anymore, even most advertising are more interesting!

That's much explanation, now for the prevention. To prevent flood from happening (not to avoid), we must consider as a human being, living together in the same earth, to care more about the environment, yes, YOU readers have to start it!! don't wait for others, before it's too late :( tell your friends about that, tell them to do the same thing, being considerate about the environment means you don't make it worst, but help make it better! that means we do put our rubbish or waste in the rubbish bin, and NOT destroying plants, instead we can plant trees to help prevent flood, in case that you did not know how to plant a tree: find a small land, go eBay and buy some seeds, dig the soil. bury the seed, water it everyday. By the way, planting trees help prevent flood, the trees help absorb excess water. If you people have done those things, and flood still happens, that means bad luck, or maybe the problems is with the government, maybe it's the city drainage, if that's so, go complaint to your government, by newspaper, or by demonstrating, better way: post complaints on newspapers, or if you are a professional architect, make a project to create anti-flood environment. Create better drainage system for the city maybe? :) Good luck!

Flash Flood is flood that happens instantly, in flash. It happened with no rain, no storm. Flash Flood happened because the ground absorbed too much water, before it's ready to absorb more.
